Weekly Update – September 6th

I (Zach) have been contemplating this week about how the Church of Jesus Christ–and thus the local expressions of His Church–is the most unique entity that has ever and will ever exist. Peter describes the church as “a chosen race, royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession” This can be said of no other group. For no other entity has Christ shed His blood. We a part of and serve the most holy people that belong to God. This is a wonderful privilege! I am praying that we serve teh Lord with gladness as a result of knowing this!

DC Announcements:

1. Membership Class: Sept 13 @ 12 PM in the Chapel

Church membership is the gateway to connecting deeply at Heritage. We desire that those who give, serve, and are invested in community here at Heritage also be invited into the family of Heritage.
Church membership is how we mark out those who have covenanted together in mutual submission to love and care for one another.
We would love to have you join us for the next Membership Class to take the next step toward connecting and belonging at Heritage as we make followers of Jesus Christ together.

2. Short Term Ministry Trip Informational Meeting

Short-Term Ministry Trips provide opportunities for our members to better grasp God’s heart for the nations and come alongside our Global Workers in care, support, and understanding.

3. Women’s Bible Study

The role of women in the church has been greatly discussed these last few months. Amidst all the noise, women may wonder if God is for them, if the Bible is for them, and if the church is for them. Very Good allows us to ask the question, what does the Bible actually say about this? From Genesis to Revelation, we learn that our Creator offers life, purpose, joy, and conviction to us—women made in His image.

Global Workers

The following list is of workers who are currently in the US. We are providing you with this list so you can know who is available if you would like to have them speak in your community either in person or via Zoom. If so, please send an email to Leslie at leslie@hbclynchburg.com. In your email include the dates that you have open and would like for them to come, and also include details of what sharing would look like in your community. Be as specific as you can! This will be helpful for quick and easier communication back and forth. Thank you.

Adult Ministry FAQs

Who do I call for . . . ?
Rebecca Havill is always a good first choice.
Can I use space at church for an activity outside my normal ministry schedule?
Yes! Go to HBC’s website (hbclynchburg.com/contact/) and click on the “Reservations” button. This form will come to Rebecca. Contact her with any questions.
Can I use the church consumable supplies (plates, cups, etc.) for my ministry activity?
If your activity is on campus, feel free to use them. If your activity is off campus please purchase your supplies or have class members sign up to bring them. Remember that we have budget money for this and you can be reimbursed within the budget limits.
Can I use the church non-consumable supplies (decorations, tables, chairs, etc.) for my ministry activity?
Yes, make an appointment with Tiffany to see what is available. For off-campus events, some limited tables and chairs can be used.
How much time do I actually have for my DC?
Each DC has one hour scheduled for the actual meeting (9-10 & 10:30-11:30). The first hour DC should be out of the room by 10:15 to allow the second hour DC to set up. If a room is used for an activity after the second hour, the DC should be out of the room by 11:45. We will try to communicate when your room is going to be used for an activity. Please be considerate with your ending time as well as your entry into an occupied room.
