Align Women’s Conference: Fashioned Intentionally for a Glorious Purpose

Join the women of Heritage for a weekend conference where we will hear from our own Senior Pastor Nathan Smith, for the first time addressing ONLY the women of our congregation, providing for us a biblical framework for understanding the value, dignity, beauty, and necessity of our design as women – in the home, in the Church, and beyond. With that foundation being laid, we will springboard off of those truths into facilitated breakout discussions with HBC women to learn together how we can practically work out the principles we hear in our various seasons of life. This conference will be an important moment in the life of our church as women because it is helping set the course for where we are heading.

For the first time ever, we have invited Pastor Nathan to be the speaker at our Align Women’s Conference. You will not want to miss the first time that our senior pastor shares his vision and passion for the women of our church with just the women of our church! God has intentionally fashioned women with significant value and purpose, and when we embrace that design, our homes, church, workplaces, and beyond will be deeply impacted.

Want to make it a weekend getaway with friends?

Since we will be in town for the conference, consider gathering a group of friends to split the cost and stay overnight together for a couple nights in a local hotel or Airbnb! We have a limited number of rooms (2 queens per room) blocked off at a group rate of $159/room at Homewood Suites for March 28-30. Contact the hotel directly to make your reservations. To book over the phone guests can call 434-239-3006 and use the code “HBC” or group name “Heritage Baptist Church” or click here to book online!

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions?

Below are some FAQs about the upcoming Align Women’s Conference. If you have any additional questions, please direct them to women@hbclynchburg.com.

Why are we having a man speak at a women's conference?

Great question! This is the first time we’ve done that, and there is a good reason for it. Since there are so many voices out there trying to define the value, purpose, and roles of women, we recognize the importance of having a trusted, authoritative voice who can show us from God’s Word what God says about women. Since this is a large, ongoing, and often messy conversation, we want to hear this foundation laid by our own pastor, leaving no room for wondering what our church thinks about women and how our church is going to view women’s roles. Pastor Nathan will both present the truth and offer clarification during a Q & A time and then some of our own women will speak to practical application of those truths, offering examples from their own lives of some of the principles lived out and wrestled with.

What exactly is meant by "breakout discussions"?

Don’t worry, you won’t have to share your deepest darkest secrets with strangers. These facilitated discussions will have questions to draw out thoughts, ideas, and responses to Pastor Nathan’s messages as well as to process together what our individual and collective life responses might be able to look like and how we can help each other as we move forward.

Large groups of women make me nervous, especially because I don't know most of them. Why should I bother putting myself through that?
Heritage is a very large church, and the sheer number of people can be overwhelming. At the women’s conference we are doing several things to create smaller contexts for conversation to take place so relationships can form and be strengthened:
  • family-style meals around tables of 6-8
  • breakout discussions facilitated in groups of 6-8 and in rooms of up to only 25
  • activity options in the afternoon for a chance to be active and play in a variety of styles or just sit and chat
Though it will take some courage, putting ourselves into these opportunities for conversation and relationship-building can lead toward encouragement and building up of the body. Sure, it’s risky, but we believe it’s worth it, and it’s what the body of Christ is to be doing.
I'm a nursing mom. Am I able to attend the conference with my nursing baby?

Yes! If your nursing child is still not mobile (scooting, crawling, or walking), feel free to bring him/her along. We want to accommodate mothers of nursing babies while still maintaining as distraction-free an environment as possible for the benefit of the community.

I'm in a tough spot financially right now and $75 is more than I'm able to afford for this conference. Is there any financial assistance available for me so I can attend?

If you have true financial need, we have a limited number of partial scholarships available. Please contact Rebecca at rhavill@hbclynchburg.com for assistance.

I have food allergies. Will there be accommodations made for me with the meals?

Once registration is closed, we will reach out to everyone to determine the extent of food allergies. We will do our best to accommodate common severe allergies such as nuts, gluten, and alpha gal related ones, but we will not be able to accommodate every single type of food allergy and sensitivity.

I already have plans for Friday or Saturday of the conference and can't be there for the whole thing. Can I still come to the part where I'm available?

Yes! If you are registered, you will be able to come to whatever parts you’re able to. We have a very intentionally laid out schedule, though, so any part you miss will impact your experience. We strongly encourage you to attend the entire event, if possible.

I can only come on Friday or Saturday. Can I have a discounted rate?

Since we are keeping the cost as low as possible, there will be one conference rate regardless of which hours you are in attendance.

Since the conference is in town and at Heritage, can I just show up even if I didn't register?

No. We will be serving four meals and making all of our plans with the registration count as our final numbers. You must register by February 23 in order to attend.
