Nathan Smith - May 31, 2026

Love as Jesus Loved

We often hope our children will grow up to be just like us, until they get a front-row seat to our own flaws and depravity. Ultimately, our calling as parents and as believers isn't to point people to ourselves, but to our Heavenly Father who calls us to reflect His perfect character. From the creation mandate in Genesis to the holiness laws of Leviticus, God has always desired for His people to image Him to the world. In this sermon, Pastor Nathan dives back into the Upper Room on Thursday night—just hours before the crucifixion. With the traitor Judas having just exited into the night, Jesus looks at His remaining disciples, calls them "little children," and delivers a radical, final form of an old commandment: to love one another exactly as He has loved us. Join us as we explore the four profound truths of this passage, learning how the church shines brightest when we love the unlovable, practice radical forgiveness, and stop trying to love out of our own self-sufficiency.
