Serve with Kids MinistryCelebration!
We praise God for his provision in the growth of our Kids Ministry! Over the last 3 years, we have expanded to add eight additional Kids Ministry classrooms (from nursery through 6th grade)! However, the growth is not just in numbers. For our elementary children, we are implementing intentional small group Bible study, discussion, and project groups at both hours. This deeper level of study requires substantially more volunteers than traditional lecture style teaching!
The Dilemma
We are blessed to have many college students serve our program during the school year (close to 100 this past year)! However, when you look at the college schedule of breaks, our college students are gone more than half of the Sundays in a year!Â
For our younger children, this inconsistency of schedule means we have to cap/combine classes more often, and we are unable to create the kind of nurturing culture that naturally comes from familiar faces in the classroom. For our older children, it is very difficult for them to form meaningful relationships with volunteers, which means less opportunity for gospel/discipleship conversations.Â
Our Goal for This Year
While it is possible for our ministry to move forward with non-local college students in key roles, we feel that it is in the best interest of our children and the ministry of the church to have our locals (of any age) filling all of the teacher and small group roles, still utilizing non-local college students in support positions.Â
Would you consider serving with Kids Ministry next year? Please see the FAQs below for more details! If you’re interested in having a conversation about how you can be involved, please submit a volunteer application to begin the interview process.
