Heritage Baptist Church
Global WorkersUnderstanding the role of the Global Worker in Heritage’s Global Work philosophy.
Heritage Global Ministries exists to discover, equip, and shepherd long-term cross-cultural Goers who love the Gospel and are making reproducing followers of Jesus.
GOING
Heritage, alongside the global church, has a role in proclaiming the Gospel to all nations, particularly to those who have not heard (Matthew 24:14; Romans 15:23). Our focus is taking the Gospel to those who have little to no access to the Good News of Jesus—people groups who are either unreached, or both unreached and unengaged. Primarily, we send Global Workers who will:
GO TO THE UNREACHED TO:
Live incarnationally among unreached peoples in the 10/40 window with a strategic focus on ‘hub’ cities.
MOBILIZE OTHERS TO THE UNREACHED BY:
Living incarnationally among an unreached diaspora population to mobilize them back to their geographical home peoples.
Living incarnationally among a reached people to mobilize nearby neighbors to an unreached people.
MAKING DISCIPLES
Healthy, local churches are used by God to make, mature, and multiply disciples, and care for the community around it (Hebrews 10:24-25 Acts 2:42-47; 1 Peter 2:9-10; John 13:35). Our primary focus is on efforts and teams that facilitate the planting of these churches within local communities. When possible, we would encourage coming alongside national disciple-makers and pastors. Our prioritized ministries are:
First, church planters and church trainers.
Second, support ministries (e.g. teaching, medical, aviation, business, and social ministries) when directly connected with and strategically used for evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.
While ministries not directly involved in assisting and establishing a local body of believers are needed, due to limited resources, they are not currently supported by Heritage.
DISCIPLING THROUGH TEAMS
Jesus sent his disciples out two by two. He gives the Church members diverse gifts for its growth and edification (Eph 4:11-16). Because we see precedence in Scripture and recognize its benefit and effectiveness, we send Global Workers out either as, or to, healthy teams instead of individually. Our support falls into three categories:
Sent Global Workers:
- Equipped through Pathway to the Nations.
- Sent out by Heritage to fulfill the Great Commission.
- In line with Heritage’s strategic focus in church planting.
- May be in the marketplace, but church planting takes precedence.
- Receives ongoing financial and personal support primarily from the Heritage body.
Supported Global Workers:
- Sent out by a partnering church, not Heritage.
