The term translated “precious” here is from the root word yāqār, which refers to something of great importance and value. Though He knows and controls the hour of our death (Psalm 139:16), the Lord doesn’t treat our lives carelessly (Psalm 72:14). What we experience—even when it’s painful—is part of God’s good plan (Romans 8:28) for those who love Him (Psalm 116:15).*

We offer our deepest condolences for the loss of your loved one. The purpose of this webpage is to offer you a consolidated space to assist you as you plan your loved one’s memorial service. Pastor Kevin Haglund will likely be the pastor that walks you through the actual planning of the service. He will help you decide on an officiant, song selections, and other service details. Here are some additional frequently asked questions and answers along with some helpful links for you to refer to in the planning process.

Q: Will a livestream of the service be available?

A: Yes. All memorial services held inside HBC facilities will be livestreamed unless a family requests otherwise. All memorial services will be made available on our website at www.hbclynchburg.com/bereavement.

Q: Will the service be video recorded?

A: Yes. All memorial services are automatically recorded to our HBC Events YouTube Channel for viewing after the livestream has ended. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a hard copy of the recording.

Q: Is there an opportunity for our family and close friends to have a meal together before or after the service?

A: Yes. Before or immediately after the funeral, you will have access to one of our rooms for up to 90 minutes. We will take care of set up and clean up, and we will provide a meal for up to 35 people. More than 35 people? That’s no problem! We can host up to a maximum of 75 people. We would humbly ask you to cover the cost of $3.50 per meal beyond the complimentary meals. You may fill out the Family Meal Registration to make your selection, communicate how many people you expect, and pay for any additional beyond the 35 complimentary meals.
