Jesus in the Old Testament: Judges

The Book of Judges serves as a stark reminder of humanity's desperate need for a savior, as it chronicles the Israelites' repeated failures and God's steadfast grace. The narrative unfolds in three parts, showcasing a prologue of incomplete conquest, a downward spiral of increasing depravity, and the depths of Israel's sinfulness. Each cycle of sin, servitude, supplication, and salvation grows more intense, underscoring the inadequacy of the judges and the people's deep-seated need for a perfect savior. This Old Testament book not only highlights the need for a king and a savior but also teaches salvation by grace through faith. It points us to Jesus, the true and better king, who fulfills the covenant and loves unconditionally, contrasting with the flawed human leaders of Judges. As we apply the lessons from Judges, we are called to acknowledge our need for a savior, respond to God's grace with gratitude, and share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
