Scripture is often likened to a symphony, harmoniously blending truths that culminate in the glorification of Jesus Christ. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, the Bible consistently points to the coming of the Messiah, who will purify and renew. This week's sermon delved into the prophetic writings of Zechariah and Malachi, and their fulfillment in the New Testament, particularly in the Gospel of John. Zechariah prophesied a future purification and a coming Messiah, while Malachi spoke of two messengers, one of whom is identified as Jesus Christ. In the New Testament, John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus, calling people to repentance. Jesus then enters the temple, drives out the traders, and declares Himself as the new temple. This act fulfills the prophecies and redefines the temple as His body, indicating that through His death and resurrection, He becomes the meeting place between God and humanity. Understanding Jesus as the new temple challenges us to see Him as the center of our worship and faith, offering direct access to God.
