Our Pastors

Pastor Jeff

Pastor Jeff Scott was born in 1962 in Brunswick, Maine, but his dad was career Air Force, so the family moved―a lot. By the time he was eighteen, he had moved nineteen times! His dad was stationed in Duluth, Minnesota, from 1973 to 1975, and it was there that Jeff made the acquaintance of Scott Walton, a sixth-grade classmate from a strong Christian family. The Waltons began teaching Jeff the basics about God, creation, Jesus, and God’s desire for his life. Over a period of several months they took him through the Bible and explained his need for Jesus. On May 17, 1974, he finally asked Jesus to forgive him for his sins, come into his life, and save him.

After graduating from high school in Maine, Jeff enrolled at Liberty Baptist College (now Liberty University) with plans for a degree in business. The Lord had other ideas, however, and on October 26, 1980, Jeff surrendered his life for full-time Christian service. Ruth Ann and Jeff met in college, and were married in January of 1988. In 1995, after being a member for ten years, Jeff was hired as HBC’s Pastor of Discipleship/Adult Ministries. Pastor Jeff holds three degrees from Liberty―a Bachelor’s in Pastoral Ministries (1985), a Master’s of Divinity (1989), and a Master’s of Theology (2000)―and in 2010 he earned a Doctorate of Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. Pastor Jeff has a passion for discipleship and training leaders for the next generation. His job includes overseeing Sunday morning adult classes (Discipleship Communities) and Wednesday evening electives (Life Training Electives). Jeff and Ruth Ann have three daughters: Bethany, Rachel, and Rebekah.
