Adult Ministries

As our vision statement clearly states, ‘We exist as a scriptural community to seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ …’ Life Training Electives is one avenue that assists us in accomplishing this mission.

This is done in a couple of ways.

1. We offer a variety of classes for adults that are related to spiritual growth, Bible knowledge and application, life issues, and ministry preparation. Each class is designed to better equip you for life and ministry.

2. Our Men’s and Women’s Ministries offer gender groups /classes which focus upon related issues of men and women.

3. Several classes are offered through specific Discipleship Communities designed to provide a deeper level of relationships designed to move people in discipleship.

Fall Life Training Electives will begin Wednesday, September 6, from 7:00-8:15 pm and will end December 13.

(No electives on October 18 or November 22)

Harvest Partners
Jim Vernon, Marilyn Bumgardner, Bonnie Rencher
Germany, W127

Join us as we learn more about our missionaries and their work, as well as unreached people groups and other religions around the world. Our missionaries are frequently guest speakers in the meetings, and every meeting has focused prayer for our missionaries and the people they are reaching. Each segment stands alone, so you may attend a Harvest Partners meeting at any time.

The Gift of the Spirit that Keeps Giving: Charismatic or Charismania?!
Dr. Chris Gnanakan
Morocco, M244

This course will explore the person and work of the Holy Spirit - the third, forgotten person of the Trinity! Along with the Spirit's nature and function, we will explore the fruit as against those controversial gifts. We will try to answer the question: "In what ways do these gifts build the church of Jesus Christ and advance His mission in the field and our Postmodern society?!"

Ecclesiastes
Doug Johnson
Egypt, M234

A 13 week, interactive study of Ecclesiastes in which we’ll examine the challenge of living an authentic Christian life in a not-so-perfect world. Attention will be paid to exploring the various life issues raised in this book and viewing them through a Biblical Worldview lens so as to serve as guidance to us today. Finally, we’ll look how the timeless wisdom of Ecclesiastes speaks to the various generations living today.

Women's Elective:
1 Peter
Caroline Prosper
Japan, M112

Our inheritance through Christ is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. In 1 Peter, a man of faith and flaws and eyewitness to the life of Christ challenges us to look beyond our current circumstances to a future inheritance. We will be working through Jen Wilkin's 1 Peter. Books will be sold starting the second week of class for $13.

Men's Elective: As Iron Sharpens Iron
Pastor Jeff & Various Teachers
Algeria, M240

As men, we often identify with the American icon of the lone cowboy riding into town to run out the bad guys. This image of a man is good for the movie screen but doesn't relate to real life. God has designed us to be deeply involved in one another's lives. Solomon addresses this when he states that "As iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another" (Proverbs 27:17). We can see in Scripture, that as we mature in faith and life, we enter into a season of influence that should enable us to disciple the next generation. Join us if you are interested in learning how to thrive as a man of influence.

Biblical Wisdom for a Broken World
Drs. David & Suzanne
Mikkelson
Korea, M114

Most Christians face real struggles as they seek to live faithfully in our broken and confused world. Anxiety, depression, stress, addictions, suffering, and trauma are some of the challenges we will address in this elective from a biblical worldview, looking to God’s Word for hope and healing.
